Global Cooperation Agreement Memorandum of Understanding Signing

Highlights of the Annual Recognition and Awards Luncheon held during the IDEA2017 Annual Conference included the signing of an international memorandum of understanding. The Global Cooperation Agreement Memorandum of Understanding was signed by representatives from 10 nations who are members or affiliates of IDEA and supporters or partners in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) District Energy in Cities Initiative. The signers recognize that international collaboration and cross-border exchange is important to accelerate deployment of district energy as a proven approach to increase energy efficiency, enhance energy security, strengthen local economies and reduce harmful emissions as contemplated in the 2015 UNFCCC Paris Climate Agreement. Representatives from Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, Germany/European Union, Japan, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States pledged to work together on government advocacy, policy education, and the development of industrial technical guideline and best practices.
