Woking considers taking out £25m loan to build 'sustainable energy centre'

Summary

Woking Borough Council is considering taking out a £25m loan to fund a new energy centre in the centre of the town.

Planning consent was granted in March 2017 for the six-storey building in Poole Road, which will contain a combined heat and power plant to be operated by Thameswey Energy, the council-owned energy company.

The plant would supply sustainable heat and power to the nearby Victoria Square development, and other developments around Goldsworth Park Road.
