The Rehabilitation of the Old Main Heating Plant at the University of Minnesota

08-22-2017 13:20

Summary

The Old Main Heating Plant was constructed in 1912 and provided steam to the University’s campus for 80 years. However, it was essentially abandoned after the South-East plant was purchased from the City in 1992. After 15 years of neglect, the University began an ambitious effort in 2011 to rehabilitate the plant for production of Combined Heat and Power. This presentation will address the process and the challenges that were overcome.
