Nashville International Airport is benefiting from its sustainability planning by turning a former 43-acre rock quarry into a massive geothermal cooling source for the terminal. This geothermal lake plate cooling system is the largest of its kind in North America and potentially the world. The project is saving the airport in excess of US $430,000 in energy each year, and 30 million gallons of potable water consumption.
