Building Energy Efficiency Standards: Implications for District Energy

10-12-2017 16:05

Summary

A variety of standards and guidelines exist to rate the energy efficiency of buildings. In addition to the ubiquitous LEED standards, there is the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Portfolio Manager and two ASHRAE standards moving ahead (Standard 189.1, for High-Performance Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, and Standard 100-2014, for Energy Efficiency in Existing Buildings).  In this presentation, the issues and implication for the district energy industry resulting from the new ASHRAE standards will be discussed, including fundamental concerns relative to site vs. source energy.
