Reclaiming Water in Pender County, North Carolina

10-11-2017 12:15

Summary

Pender County, North Carolina is building a satellite water reclamation plant utilizing ecological treatment techniques to provide wastewater treatment services for the US Highway 421 corridor and provide reclaimed water for a future industrial park.

The plant, known as a WaterHub™, was chosen because of its unique features such as its green aesthetics, compressed footprint and odor control. This will allow mixed-use development to be constructed around the reclamation plant. This unique opportunity allows Pender County to use underutilized land while resolving municipal sewer capacity issues and spurring economic development by attracting a host of industrial park tenants.
