Procuring Offsite Power From a Photovolatic System to Meet George Washington University’s Climate Action Plan

09-27-2017 16:42

Summary

By January 2016 the University and two partner organizations will purchase about 50% of their annual electric loads from an offsite solar photovoltaic array. This procurement was motivated by the University’s Climate Action Plan although it likely would not have been approved if the cost per kWh was greater than the existing regional electric rate. This presentation will describe the procurement process and offer recommendations for other organizations interested in replicating it.
