Mutual Assistance for District Energy

Committing to Mutual Assistance

Mutual aid plans have long been used in the utility industry for organizations to receive and provide needed support in the event of an emergency or disaster situation. Using this model, IDEA has developed the Mutual Assistance for District Energy (MADE) program among IDEA Member Organizations to provide a voluntary system for sharing trained personnel resources and emergency equipment in the event of disasters and unplanned outages.

Designed For District Energy System Operators

IDEA encourages IDEA members who own or operate a district energy system to join the MADE Program. There is no cost to join the MADE network and members receive a copy of the MADE Guidebook, the ability to request emergency support from the MADE network, and are invited to participate in the annual MADE Table Top Exercise which realistically simulates an actual emergency scenario affecting a district energy system.
