Summary

The EPA CHP Partnership has added a new chapter on packaged CHP systems in the Catalog of CHP Technologies to reflect a growing trend and interest in such systems.  Packaged systems, primarily being used in the commercial and institutional sectors, present a simplified system design, installation, and operation; fuel flexibility; small building footprint requirement; and adaptability with 3rd-party ownership models. The Partnership recently presented an award to the Maine Army National Guard at Bangor for a system. A case study of the system will be presented including a better understanding of the value it provides and the lessons learned in operating it.
