Cogeneration and Arbitrage with Amherst College and Competitive Energy Services

10-16-2017 16:40

Summary

Amherst College and Competitive Energy Services will present two case studies involving cogeneration, and make/buy strategy and arbitrage. For the past three winters, CES has assisted the College by using its dual fuel and cogeneration to remain flexible and reduce costs while maintaining reliability by implanting a detailed make/buy and fuel arbitrage strategy. Amherst’s cogeneration system, which involves a gas turbine generator and a heat recovery steam generator, supplies about 50% of the College’s annual total kWh and reduces emissions.
