Summary

Many original project assumptions and baseline conditions often change and evolve between project approval and generating the first kWh from a new CHP system. During the 30 year plant operating time horizon, the University of Minnesota encountered changes in campus needs and priorities, energy market volatility and concerns over future natural gas pricing. The University successfully dealt with these factors, and developed a plan to ensure fuel flexibility and availability with utility price guarantees.
