District Energy and Water Source Heat Pumps

07-03-2017 10:27

Summary

Water Source Heat Pumps (WSHP) are popular with developers because they are relatively easy to install and do not require a central chiller plant.  While district energy (DE) providers prefer the customer to operate a four pipe system, there is an opportunity to serve a WSHP system, with benefits for the provider and for the developer.  This presentation discusses the benefits to all parties including the energy efficiency benefits of using a DE heating and cooling source to control the temperature of the WSHP condenser water loop.  It will use data developed for two residential high rises in LA.
