The increased installation of renewable power, dominated by wind and solar has major impact on the grid due to their intermittent power supply. This is a game changer for the utilities. This presentation discusses how utilities can rely on CHP to counteract intermittancy. One business model is to install decentralized power plants in CHP application. The plant would generate power for the consumer as well as back-up capacity for the grid. The thermal energy would be sold to consumer, to off-set the investment.
