Think Outside the Plant: Transform Campus Cooling with Real-Time Data and Smart Control Valves

08-11-2017 10:08

Summary

Chilled water is a vital resource and proper utilization to maximize heat transfer at coils leads to a significant reduction in total cooling consumption and peak load, in addition to lowering system flow and distribution energy.  Further, the improved energy efficiency at buildings will result in big savings at the plant, eliminating the need to install additional capacity.  An evaluation of projects in higher education, healthcare and commercial facilities will highlight the impact of precise flow control devices coupled with real-time data insights. This will be explored from theory to results, where campuses have seen 25-30% HVAC energy savings and improved comfort.
