Using CHP as Driver for Campus Hot Water Conversion

08-11-2017 10:59

Summary

This presentation will walk the audience through the step-by-step process of assessing the potential for adding CHP to the campus. This will include developing electric, steam and potential hot water loads; technology screening including turbines, engines and fuel cells; optimizing the overall campus energy balance; determining the carbon impact against the existing utility grid; plant location screening; buildings to connect to the new microgrid and hot water distribution; quickly developing expected capital costs for competing options; and NPV and total cost of ownership to determine “Go or No Go” for the infrastructure program.
