Job Responsibilities:

Through subordinate managers & supervisors, operate the Central Plant systems & components; develop preventive maintenance requirements/procedures/schedules; develop/engineer solutions to maintenance/repair issues for all electrical & mechanical systems at Central Plants.


Establish annual utility budget for the entire University - Baton Rouge Campus

Manages all departments through subordinate managers and supervisors, to develop and carry out policies related to the management of assigned professional and craft personnel.

Provide technical expertise for long range planning of facilities.

Monitors and control the budgets for all personnel, services and materials expenses for area of responsibility.

Communicates with University's Departments to keep them informed of department activities.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director for Facility Services including on-call and emergency work when required. 


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's of Science in Engineering and at least six years of professional level engineering experience in which at least two years was at the senior manager level.


​Preferred Qualifications

Master's in Engineering, Architecture, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field and at least ten years of professional level experience in operations of Higher Education Facilities, operation of chiller, boiler or generation plants, and at least five years at the senior manager level.


License & Certification Qualifications

Valid Louisiana Driver's License

Registered or be able to register in the State of Louisiana as a Professional Engineer.


Special or Physical Qualifications

Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure.
