Located at the urban core of the beautiful North Shore with convenient access to major regional and global centres, Lonsdale Energy Corporation (Lonsdale Energy) continues to expand and develop a District Energy System that currently services 110 buildings and over 7700 dwellings. Having recently committed to ambitious decarbonization targets, Lonsdale Energy has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a strategic, collaborative and results oriented Deputy Director, Customer Connections and Piping Network, to join our team.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this position involves supervising various district energy system projects. This includes ensuring the efficient connection of new customer buildings to the district energy system and managing the expansion, repair, and maintenance of Lonsdale Energy's 15 km piping network. The Deputy Director will also identify opportunities for innovation and partnerships, align development and investments in Lonsdale Energy's piping network with strategic priorities, and manage the planning, optimization, and growth of Lonsdale Energy's distribution piping system. Additionally, they will oversee procurement management and emergency, safety, and redundancy planning for the distribution system, as well as lead initiatives to optimize construction procedures and activities.

As a skilled negotiator and communicator, the Deputy Director will play a crucial role in fostering strong strategic partnerships. Your ability to collaborate and align with project stakeholders, as well as build robust relationships within municipal, provincial, and federal governments, will be key to the success of LEC projects.

The successful candidate will be an accredited professional who will have senior experience in infrastructure development within a municipal or regional government setting with work of comparable complexity. You will bring a collaborative, progressive and innovative approach to problem solving and the key to success will be your leadership of diverse technical teams. You will leverage your experience and knowledge of construction to define and implement projects.  Working in a collaborative manner with other partners will be critical to your success together with a high degree of tact, diplomacy, political awareness and sensitivity to community issues.  A combination of skills, education, training (such as PMP or similar), and experience providing an equivalent background will be considered. A Class 5 BC driver’s license is required for this role.

During the recruitment process, applicants will be requested to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC).

Through the City of North Vancouver, LEC offers an attractive remuneration package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule and a 35-hour work week. The salary range is $154,956 to $181,164 annually (2024 rates). Salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity.
