Tabreed Bahrain has welcomed the announcement of Bahrain’s National Cooling Plan as it prepares to add 12,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT) of connected capacity to its chilled-water network along Manama’s northern seafront.
The plan is being developed under the direction of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) over 2026–2028, with implementation expected to extend to 2047. Cooling is a significant source of electricity demand in Bahrain, particularly as urban development continues. The national plan places that demand within the Kingdom’s wider climate priorities, including its commitment to net-zero emissions by 2060 and interim targets for 2035.
