Combined Heat and Power as a Source of Resilience in Microgrids

Summary

Microgrids with CHP  (DE-CHP) has proven to be a cost effective way to improve energy efficiency. CHP-based microgrids can also increase the level of resilience of many facilities to extreme weather events and other power disruptions,  providing reliable and resilient electricity as well thermal and cooling services. This joint U.S. DOE Southcentral Combined Heat and Power Technical Assistance Partnership (SC CHP TAP) and IDEA webinar will present strategies, best  practices, decision variables and real world microgrids that are pushing the boundaries of resilience.

Speakers

Gavin Dillingham, Director of the DOE Southwest CHP TAP will give an overview of the CHP markets, and how the CHP TAP can work with your facility to evaluate the potential for CHP.

Carlos Gamarra, P.E. CEM, Energy Engineer with DOE Southcentral CHP TAP will discuss the role that CHP is playing in resilience improvement oriented projects and specially in the development of resilient microgrids, including applications and specific examples.

Laxmi Rao, Director , International District Energy Association will moderate the webinar.
