Decarbonization has become a top priority for institutions, fueled by a united goal to address one of the most pressing issues of our time – climate change. In parallel, as electricity demand projections skyrocket, a global energy transition is racing forward ushering a host of new technologies.
Amid the changes and uncertainty present in utility markets, the development of advanced nuclear technologies holds great promise for resilient, carbon-free energy supplies. This presentation will discuss how microreactors are emerging to serve the needs of district energy systems, considerations in evaluating microreactor options, and barriers that must be addressed as the technology moves toward commercialization.
