They'll share how they got started in district energy, how their careers have evolved, decisions they made and why they made them, as well as advice on how the next generation of leaders can succeed in driving our industry further into a  sustainable, more resilient future.

Laura_Christensen.pngLaura Christensen, Project Engineer, Kerr Wood Leidal 
Laura has 6-years of experience in the consulting industry and is registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia and Ontario.  She holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph.  Laura has been involved in all phases of district energy projects including planning, design and construction. She has experience conducting hydraulic analysis of distribution systems using Termis for planning, expansion and optimization exercises.  Laura has also been the project engineer, field engineer, and engineer of record for several distribution piping projects.

Chase_Davis.pngChase Davis, PE, CEM, Project manager, RMF Engineering, Inc.

Chase works as a project engineer and project manager at RMF specializing in central energy infrastructure for higher education and healthcare clients. His career spans for over a decade in the district energy consulting, fuel cell, geothermal, and nuclear submarine industries. Chase is a licensed Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, and has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Connecticut and a Masters in Mechanical Engineer from RPI.

Scott_Clarke.pngScott Clark, Vice President & General Manager, Burns & McDonnell

Scott Clark is the Vice President and General Manager of Burns & McDonnell’s Dallas-Fort Worth-Raleigh-Austin offices and has more than 31 years of diversified experience in large campus energy and power projects. Previously, he was the national OnSite Energy & Power practice leader for Burns & McDonnell. Most of his experience has been with universities, hospitals and airports providing expertise in energy conservation, utility master planning, central plant design, thermal energy storage and combined heat & power projects.

Scott is currently serving on the executive committee of the International District Energy Association as Chair. He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University.

Tim_Griffin.pngTim Griffin, Executive Vice President, RMF Engineering

Tim is a registered engineer and LEED accredited professional with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He has been an active member of IDEA for over 25 years, including 8 years of service on the IDEA Board of Directors, serving as IDEA chair from 2016-2017. Tim serves as IDEA’s liaison with the US Green Building Council and actively supported the updating and revision of LEED Version 2 to more equitably account for the environmental and efficiency benefits of district energy services. He is the author of a book entitled “Winning with Millennials” based on his first-hand experience in teaching and advising young professionals.

Tim has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Master’s Degree in Business from Colorado State University.

David Musto is the President and CEO of Thermo Systems. David, along with Greg Smith, founded Thermo Systems in 1998 with the goal of creating an automation firm where team members all learn, grow, and thrive. David is actively involved in the firm’s global activities and continues to champion the team environment each day.

David holds a BS in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has over 25 years of control systems experience, previously serving at both Honeywell and GE. He serves on the Executive Committee of the International District Energy Association as Second Vice Chair.
