Climate Change and Resilient District Energy

11-09-2017 10:55

Summary

Climate change is fundamentally our greatest challenge as a society to overcome. Many institutions are addressing their own climate change contributions by planning for a future with a lower or even negative greenhouse gas footprints. At the same time, they must plan for extreme weather events and how to make their energy systems more resilient. This presentation will explore how the push for grid de-carbonization and the need for resiliency can be complementary and how they may create competing priorities. With a focus on campus based district energy systems, examples will be presented and compared for a high level discussion.
