Co-optimizing Energy and Process in the Microgrid

11-09-2017 12:11

Summary

Resiliency and value of CHP in District Energy Systems is greatly enhanced by adding Microgrid Control Systems for islanding from the utility and intelligent load management controls. Traditional CHP and District Energy Control Systems are integrated with Microgrid Control Systems to co-optimize supply and demand of thermal and electric systems. Enterprise DERMS software optimizes operations based on energy prices, fuel prices, tariffs and dynamic rates, site environmental constraints, demand response calls and optimizes the schedule of energy assets in play. We will review some optimization use cases where CHP and Microgrid Controls provide enhanced value to the end user or asset.
