IDEA is proud to be an organization that represents a diverse membership from over 25 different countries around the world. Our conferences have always been and will always be open to anyone who has an interest in district energy, regardless of immigration status or nationality. We will strive to assist anyone traveling internationally to an IDEA conference by providing any and all information and support that we are able.

Air Travel

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is the official airport of IDEA2020, located just across the Potomac River in Virginia, and is the closest airport to DC. It’s also the airport you’re most likely to spot senators and representatives heading home to their districts. Reagan Airport offers nonstop flights to 95-plus destinations on eight airlines.. 

Please be advised that Reagan National Airport is currently undergoing a phased restoration called Project Journey. Before traveling, we recommend you view all construction advisories at Reagan Airport.

Ground Transportation

Uber, Lyft, and Via offer transportation services to passengers arriving to and departing from Reagan National Airport. For rides departing Reagan National customers should use their smartphone to select the appropriate pick up location and coordinate directly with their driver. Green flags located outside on the terminal curb designate the appropriate pick-up loading zones. Pick up locations are accessible from each terminal. 

Taxis are also available on a first-come, first-served basis at each terminal. From Terminal A, proceed out the exit doors at baggage claim and turn right. The Taxis are located on the curb closest to the Terminal. From Terminals B and C, proceed to the baggage claim lower level (level one). Walk indoors to Door 5 Exit the doors to the curbside. You will find the taxi dispatch location clearly marked.

MetroRail Station

The Washington, DC Metrorail system has an elevated Metrorail station connected to the concourse level of Terminals B and C at Reagan National Airport. The Metrorail system provides easy and affordable access to locations throughout Washington, Virginia and Maryland. The Omni hotel is just a short walk from the red line metro Woodley Park Metro Station.
