District Energy systems often incorporate Combined Heat & Power (CHP); and they often incorporate Thermal Energy Storage (TES). Each technology can provide significant performance enhancements in the areas of peak capacity, reliability, resiliency, environmental impact, and economics. This presentation explores the use of both technologies in combination. How often are CHP and TES used together? Does the combined use detract from some of the benefits either would achieve individually? Or do they complement each other to achieve a scenario of 2+2= more than 4?
