The long-term Thermal Energy Strategic Framework Plan is complete. An element of this, The short-term Thermal Energy Fossil Fuel Action Plan (2020-2030), has been socialized. Now leadership is asking “so how much is this going to cost”. This presentation outlines a decade of proposed projects identified to decarbonize a significant amount of the district thermal energy systems at UVA. The project list includes fuel conversion, geoexchange, heat recovery chillers, thermal loop connections, on-site RNG, and both on-site and off-site PV. Project cost, payback, and carbon mitigation will be presented for the portfolio of projects.
