Dry Layup of Cooling Towers during winter

09-19-2023 12:08

Session Abstract

This case study will detail the benefits of a vapor phase corrosion inhibitor applied during the draining of cooling towers before winter layup at a major Eastern university. The use of this inhibitor dramatically reduced the generation of iron chip scale upon system restart, making the recommissioning of these towers much easier and problem free. The long term integrity of system piping also was enhanced with this treatment.
