Summary

The implementation of CHP projects often present many unique challenges compared to other district energy applications.  This presentation will lay out common challenges and technical roadblocks encountered through the implementation of campus CHP projects from across the country.The implementation of CHP projects often present many unique challenges compared to other district energy applications.  This presentation will lay out common challenges and technical roadblocks encountered through the implementation of campus CHP projects from across the country.

Specific topics to be addressed include:

  • System selection and sizing criteria
  • Structural design and dynamic loads
  • Electrical interconnects
  • Equipment applications, including HRSGs, balance of plant and emissions controls
  • Site environmental factors
  • Load control EPA permitting
  • Fuel Supply Control systems
  • Working with contractors

This case study will identify the common issues facing CHP projects and offer advice on successfully overcoming these challenges for project success.
