A New Algorithm to Reduce CHP/CHCP Costs & Emissions without Equipment Changes

08-08-2023 15:32

Session Abstract

This presentation demonstrates a new type of algorithm that optimizes equipment dispatch in CHP and CHCP plants to reduce both costs and carbon emissions. It was initially designed for Princeton University’s CHCP plant, where simulations showed it cutting energy costs by 16.2% and emissions by 6.5%. A brief real-world test reduced costs by 18% and emissions by 4%. This algorithm can be used by most CHP/CHCP plants without requiring any changes to equipment or software.
