Decarbonizing and Electrifying an Urban College - A Campus Energy Case Study

08-16-2023 12:18

Session Abstract

Union College is committed to practices that decrease the impact that the campus community has on the environment on a global and local scale. As part of this commitment, Union College is looking at decarbonizing and electrifying the campus through various lenses.  CHA Consulting has been working with the campus closely and has already built out an energy master plan. As part of a future expansion plan, the college is looking to expand the existing CHP plant with hydrogen engines and source green hydrogen for the same and is looking at designing a district geothermal system that would electrify all the buildings that are not on the existing district system to meet the college's ambitious climate goals.
