Session Abstract

The West Campus Utility Plant (WCUP is an award-winning facility, located on the campus of the University of Washington, that has prioritized the sustainability of its plant and is set up for long-term success. Since the primary function of the plant is to supply chilled water and emergency power to energy-intensive research buildings on campus, they need to take advantage of the advancements in automated technology and the reliability of their assets.

This presentation will share the benefits seen to date, and the challenges of adopting new technology to reduce what can contribute to up to 50% of equipment failure in district energy equipment, that is improper bearing lubrication.
