Energy Master Planning - Putting Certainty into an Uncertain Future

08-16-2023 12:59

Session Abstract

In response to a state mandate and additional internal goal of greenhouse gas emission reductions (45% by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050 respectively), New Mexico State University facilities leadership began the development of an energy master plan. This case study covers how the team incorporated academic and research staff as stakeholders, maintained alignment with the overall campus master plan, developed a phased approach to reduce steam system carbon usage and examined alternative revenue streams to fund recommended initiatives.
