Active Zone Geothermal is a new dynamic geothermal borefield in a Thermal Energy Exchange and Storage system designed specifically for community or development scale thermal microgrid projects to manage higher temperature hot and colder waste energy.
The AZG borefield increases the borefield functional capacity by targeting the injected and extracted energy in managed zones where each borehole has multiple loops with concurrent flows.
The ability to simultaneously inject, extract or store thermal energy can effectively manage daily and seasonal imbalances through load shifting. Presentation includes design, alternative installation processes and materials, two case studies.
