Mapping Toronto's Wastewater Energy Resource

08-16-2023 14:04

Session Abstract

Toronto’s wastewater system can support dozens of large wastewater energy transfer (WET) projects, including the planned system at one of Toronto's major hospitals, which will be the largest of its kind globally. We will present the results of the City’s work to quantify and map wastewater thermal resources, and to make the results available to energy developers through an online platform that will support further resource development and substantial GHG emission reductions citywide.

Presenters

David MacMillan, Program Manager, City of Toronto

Sonja Wilson, Principal, Reshape Infrastructure Strategies Ltd.

Mike Homenuke, Sector Leader, Principal, Kerr Wood Leidal Associates Ltd.
