Session Abstract

MAN's Heat Pump Units (HPU) have been supporting European district energy projects at both commercial and industrial scales. Currently MAN and our client are installing  the worlds largest sCO2 heat pump in Esbjerg, Denmark (Commissioning fall of 2022). This equipment has a bright future in District Energy as it is exceptionally suited for hot water conversation and High COPs on high temperature lift applications. Further, based on high speed compressor technology, test data from the project shows that these units can be used for electrical frequency response.  MAN HPUs can add or reduce load seen by the electrical grid very quickly for mechanical equipment (+/- 7MW less then 30sec).
