Computation-aided District Energy System Plant Site Selection and Network Planning

09-13-2023 13:50

Session Abstract

Network layout and site location have tremendous impacts on the performance of district energy systems. However, current design practice heavily relies on engineers’ judgement and experience, and time/labor intensive.

A computation-aided system is developed for integrating advanced artificial intelligence techniques with engineering principles to automatically generate and evaluate thousands candidates to find optimal designs of site location and network layout under multiple financial (e.g., CAPEX, carbon emission) and engineering criteria (e.g., pressure drop, imbalance rate).
