Bio

Paul is the Vice President Engineering & Operations at Corix, a leading greenfield district energy utility across North America.

Paul is currently working on the design and construction of a low carbon Sewer Heat Recovery plant (~$91m) as well as multiple temporary energy plants for the City of Richmond. Paul is also leading the development of the first of a new generation of modular low carbon heating and cooling plants for the Utah City Heating and Cooling Corporation utility, due in service March 2026. In addition Paul is a member of the Oakridge Energy Operations Oversight Committee, providing technical guidance and input for the ~$120m Oakridge Energy District Utility, as the plant completes construction and the new utility enters service. This system at full build out will become home to a large Geoexchange system, waste heat recovery chiller, electric boilers as well as NG boilers for peaking, in addition to the largest chiller plant in Western Canada at 8,000 tons cooling.

Paul recently brought into service (December 2023) the Port of Bellingham, WA heating and cooling low carbon district energy system and prior to that Paul successfully oversaw the transition of Simon Fraser University (SFU) Burnaby Campus and the 'UniverCity' Residential neighborhood, collectively the Burnaby Mountain District Energy Utility (BMDEU) to low carbon via the construction of a $43m, 13.5MW Biomass facility and hot water distribution system. The new facility/system came online in October 2020 and has since reduced the BMDEU CO2e emissions by over 85% annually for both the university campus and residential Neighbourhood.

Paul is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in BC, a Chartered Engineer (CEng) in the UK and is a member of the board of directors for the International District Energy Association (IDEA).
