Session Abstract

Located on the site of a former pulp and paper mill, the Waterfront District is transforming the city of Bellingham’s downtown into a vibrant, mixed-use community with improved access to beaches, parks and historical landmarks. An important aspect of this project is the inclusion of a 4-pipe district energy system which will provide reliable, cost-effective heating and cooling to all waterfront buildings from local waste heat and other low-carbon energy sources.
