District Energy Expansion at Historic UGA North Campus

08-08-2023 10:38

Session Abstract

The North Campus Utility Infrastructure project is a multiphase project for the installation of heating water and chilled water distribution in a way that minimizes campus disruption on this sensitive part of campus and develops a regional heating water plant to replace the low pressure steam system.  The first two phases of the project included the installation of the direct buried systems.  The final phase of the project includes the development of the regional plant. This plant allows heating water to be distributed to all connected buildings and is sized for future expansion. The systems provide robust infrastructure for the future of the historic part of campus and enable a transition to using lower carbon energy sources in the future.
