Auburn University’s central utility plants provide chilled water and hot water to over 12 million square feet of campus buildings. Auburn continues to expand its campus footprint, placing additional strain on the central utilities to maintain continuous, reliable service. This presentation will discuss how Auburn’s use of building KPI’s guided them to execute over 100 low to no-cost repairs and modifications that improved the campus delta-T by more than 30%. This improved delta-t resulted in a reduction of thousands of gallons per minute of pumping, more efficient operation of the chillers, and increased chiller capacity during peak load.
