Key Strategies to Optimize Hydronic Distribution System for Improved Plant Performance

Session Abstract

Strategic balancing and control of water flow rate are crucial to achieving optimal hydronic plant performance. For a hydronic system to perform as specified, the following key conditions must be satisfied.

•The design flow must be available at all terminals

•The differential pressure across control valves must be stabilized

•Primary Flow should be ≥ Secondary Flow

This presentation discusses the most common issues prevalent in hydronic systems, their causes, and solutions. In addition to that, we will look into a case study where IMI Hydronic implemented the key optimization strategies. This helped to identify and resolve issues with low chiller delta-T and efficiency, and temperature fluctuations, achieving 67% energy reduction
