08-08-2023 10:01

Session Abstract

Carleton College is a small place with big vision. In 2021, it completed a full campus transition from steam heating to low temperature hot water (LTHW) tied to a geothermal heat pump and three geothermal bore fields. Project manager, Martha Larson, will summarize the project, including key design, financial, and construction decisions that accelerated a full campus transition off steam over a compressed five-year construction period.  She will also address lessons learned during start-up and operation as well as ongoing system optimization efforts and ties to Carleton's research and curriculum.
