Session Abstract

The University of Michigan completed both a CHP Expansion Project and Switchgear Upgrade Project between January 2018 - January 2022. The projects included new natural gas compressors, a 15 MW Solar Turbine, Rentech HRSG, and new UREA system, and a complete renewal of the 13.2 kV switchgear. These projects were completed and commissioned while the existing plant was fully operational. Many lessons learned from the design, commissioning, and ultimate operation of the new unit and equipment integrated with existing equipment as a whole.
