Despite their many advantages, microgrids face significant barriers to widespread implementation. As a fundamental complication, microgrids face often-conflicting regulation at the federal, state and sometime local levels. The MRC focuses its efforts on intervening where issues of importance arise. Looking ahead to 2020 and beyond the Coalition seeks to promote industry growth by focusing on advocacy efforts related to microgrids, eliminating regulatory barriers, resiliency, and utility 2.0.
