In 2016, the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center acquired their thermal energy system in an effort to reduce costs and improve service and reliability. In the 3 years since, the transition team has overhauled the heating production equipment, transitioned from coal to gas, replaced absorption chillers with centrifugal chillers, replaced cooling towers, and installed new power and thermal redundancy. This effort increased system reliability, improved resilience, increased capacity for future growth, stabilized rates, and improved the overall environmental profile of the system. The presentation will focus on the key drives for operational excellence and the plans to grow the campus that are dependent on this transformed infrastructure.
