Session Abstract

Effluent and sewer heat recovery is becoming increasing popular as a potential and realized source of renewable energy. The basics of effluent and sewer heat recovery strategy and current technology will be reviewed and discussed with specific case studies referenced including the Saanich Effluent Heat Recovery DES and the Lulu Island Heat Recovery System.  The presentation will also shine light on lessons learned from the implementation of these systems on transferring heat into a district energy system for use within the built urban infrastructure.
