Lily is the Advisor to the Energy Branch on Sustainable Energy in Cities, where she leads the renewable energy and energy efficiency in cities workstream with a focus district energy to 1) build a new global public-private partnership on district energy systems, 2) engage UNEP in the Sustainable Energy for All process, and 3) enhance UNEP’s impact on policy discourse and development improve the understanding and full range of policy options available for cities to promote transformative change of energy systems at city level towards enhanced sustainability, in both developed and developing countries.
Lily is the lead author of UNEP publication “District Energy in Cities: Unlocking the Potential of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy” in collaboration with ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, Copenhagen Center of Energy Efficiency and UN-Habitat.
Lily worked previously as a Policy Advisor for REN21 where she authored, prepared and contributed to flagship publications on global renewable energy policy status and trends with a focus on cities and developing country markets. She has worked as a Research Analyst in the Communications Office of Herman Scheer, Deutscher Bundestag, Germany with a focus on the political process to establish the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Lily has her Bachelor of Arts, High Distinction in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Toronto and her Masters in Environmental Studies, Full Scholarship and High Distinction from York University in Toronto.
