Amherst College will be carbon neutral by 2030. The College and Salas O’Brien created a Decarbonization Mater Plan and are now executing it in order to meet this goal. The plan was informed by a robust dialogue with the College’s community and includes switching from steam to LTHW distribution, ground and air-source heat-pumps and building upgrades. The plan provides resilience for campus operations and will reduce Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 85%.
