The world’s largest datacenter heat recovery project for district heating has been running for one year in Odense, Denmark. Waste heat from the Facebook datacenter is delivered to a local district heating network through a 44 MW heat pump energy plant, supplying the equivalent of 11,000 houses. Redistribution of waste heat from datacenters to district energy systems plays a vital role in the green transition. Lesson learned from the first year of operation will be shared.
