Summary

Against the backdrop of uncertainty caused by COVID-19, legislators and regulators in the state of California continue to advance policies intended to enhance community resiliency, strengthen infrastructure and reduce carbon emissions. Following the framework set by SB 1339, the Microgrid Resources Coalition has been working for many months to update the microgrid tariff, revise regulatory treatments and reduce structural market hurdles such as departing load charges (DLC’s) and standby charges.

	Allie Detrio, Chief Strategist, Reimagine Power Allie Detrio is the Chief Strategist for Reimagine Power where she is focused on microgrids and sustainability policy in the west coast. Reimagine Power’s clients include developers, cleantech startups and nonprofits that are reimagining the power sector to create a more sustainable world. Prior to Reimagine Power, Allie was the Manager of Policy & Strategy at ENGIE, the largest independent power producer and provider of energy services in the world. In 2018, Allie was awarded the California Solar & Storage Association's MVP Award for her leadership in passing legislation to commercialize the microgrid market in California (SB 1339) and legislation authorizing $800M in new energy storage incentives (SB 700).
	Christopher Berendt, Partner, Faegre Drinker Chris is counsel to the Microgrid Resources Coalition and has over 20 years of power sector regulatory and transactional experience. He is an energy partner in the Environmental and Energy practice at Faegre Drinker and focuses on the design and operations of energy and environmental markets. Chris received a Bachelor of Arts from Kenyon College, completed an executive leadership acceleration program at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, and received a J.D. from Vermont Law School.
	Baird Brown, Principal, eco(n)law Baird is counsel to the Microgrid Resources Coalition and has worked extensively on public/private partnerships and privatization of public services. He is principal and founder of eco(n)law, where he works with energy customers and communities and their technology and finance partners to deploy a new generation of energy and sustainability infrastructure. Baird has a B.A. in Economics from S.U.N.Y at Buffalo and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
